This is facilitated through our official publication (SA Instrumentation and Control), newsletters, Knowledge Sharing for Industry (KS4I) events, technical evenings, webinars, and conferences.
- Professional Registration Support: SAIMC provides guidance and support throughout the process of registering with ECSA. This includes assistance with understanding the requirements, preparing the necessary documentation, and navigating the application process.
- Costs for ECSA Registered members: For those that must register with ECSA, adding Voluntary Association Fees to your ECSA registration fees will save you hundreds of Rands per year compare to ECSA fees added to membership fees of similar VA’s.

People do not have to join the SAIMC to join the ECSA, despite obtaining a discount for being a member of a Voluntary Association. But if one wants to grow within industry as far as knowledge and experience is concerned, the ECSA delegated that responsibility to their recognised Voluntary Associations.
Within Automation in particular, technology is growing fast. Not all industries implement all the latest technologies which limits the experience of staff only working in one industry. To grow, they need exposure to technologies that might not be immediately apparent to the industry they are working in.
Here is a saying that has guided me through my professional career:
- “What happens if you train people and they leave?”
- Well, “What happens if you do not train them and they stay?”

Value Proposition A: The SAIMC offers free membership for Didactic Institution automation final year students and above, including researchers and lecturers in automation.
Why does it matter? This means they all receive the VA discount for the ECSA registration. (All lecturers lecturing to final year students need to be registered with the ECSA).Why should an education institution join the SAIMC?
