The Employment Equity Plan applies only to designated employers and their workers, particularly those workers from designated groups.
Designated employers include:
- Employers who employ 50 or more workers.
- Employers who employ less than 50 workers, but has a total annual turnover that is equal to or above the applicable annual turnover of a small business in terms of Schedule 4 of the Employment Equity Act
- An employer bound by a collective agreement, appointed as a designated employer in terms of the Employment Equity Act
- Municipalities
- Organs of State.
The SAIMC currently has less than 50 employees with an annual turnover less than the applicable annual turnover of a small business in terms of Schedule 4 of the Employment Equity Act.
Nevertheless, the SAIMC currently is at Level 4 and aims to move to Level 2 before the end of 2022.
